Remember the phantom book artist who was leaving her works in libraries? She strikes again. Read the story on NPR. See all the sculptures here. The above photograph is (c) Chris Scott.

Ha!

These sculptures are gorgeous and the mystery behind them makes them particularly intriguing and fun. I love how detail-focused the artist is, how the content of the book relates directly to the sculpture and the note left with it. Ten were left in all, and all amazing. Interestingly, the artist says (in the last note she left, which also confirmed her gender as female) that the whole project was inspired by Twitter. This makes a certain amount of sense, since each note was addressed to the libraries’ Twitter handles, but I wonder what exactly she meant by that, and how Twitter inspired her. It’s also interesting that the hyper-connectivity of Twitter is what launched this project into minor fame. Perhaps that’s exactly what she was aiming for. One way or another, it’s the kind of project that makes me want to work in a library or book store for the rest of my life.
